REEL MOWERS Frequency of Mowing Schedule
Lawn-Mowing.com
| Mowing Schedules: Mowing schedules will revolve
around the type and variety of grass you choose/have in your lawn. Usage of the grass (lawn, athletic, golf, and
ornamental) generally involve different mowing habits from the fully intense to the most
lax. |
 |
The creeping, low growing
grasses require less mowing and are mown at a lower height because of the
ground hugging, dense matting growth. Bunch type grasses grow taller and are generally
coarser and generally must be mown more often in some situations to keep the evenness of
the lawn and with as sharp a blade as possible because of their texture. Mowing depends
upon amount of water and fertilizer it receives. Early mowing in the spring will help to
kill back some of the weeds that are preparing to seed out.
| Lawn-Mowing
- MOW LESS THAN 1/3 OF LEAF |
| Any grass regardless of cool or warm season -- will never
respond well to having more than a third removed at any time. Grass blades are the food
factories if the grass plant and removing too much of the working part of the plant puts
the plant into shock and much of the nutrients are lost until the leaf grows back and
seals the "wound" made by the cutting. |
| Lawn-Mowing - How Often? - How Often? |
The time of the year will also affect the rate of mowing.
Whether it is a new lawn or older established lawn. Grasses that are in a-one shape and
getting the right amount of fertilizer and water will naturally grow faster and need more
mowing It is better to mow twice in one week and remove smaller amounts of
the vegetation at the time especially if you have missed a few mowings for some reason.
